Energy Saving Mode

Energy Saving Mode helps extend your tracker's battery life by using your home Wi-Fi network (or any other network you consider a "safe" location).

Setting up an Energy Saving Area:

  1. Go to the Menu section.
  2. If you have multiple Kippy devices, select the one you want to configure.
  3. Tap Energy Saving Area.
  4. A window opens allowing you to save the desired zone. The Wi-Fi network your phone is currently connected to gets saved as the "safe" network.

As long as your dog is near that saved Wi-Fi network, the area is automatically treated as safe and energy-saving mode engages.

What changes while Energy Saving Mode is active:

  • Live Tracking and Geofence are disabled to conserve battery.
  • The flashing light and sound signal can still be used, as long as your dog is within Bluetooth range.
  • Activity monitoring keeps working normally, with or without Energy Saving Mode active.

When your dog leaves the Wi-Fi zone:

  • Energy Saving Mode switches off automatically.
  • Live Tracking and Geofence become available again.

To fully disable Energy Saving Mode:

  1. Go to your pet's profile, then the menu.
  2. Tap Energy Saving Mode.
  3. Tap the button to deactivate it.

Note on timing:

  • If your phone is within Bluetooth range of the device, Energy Saving Mode turns off within about a minute.
  • If the device is out of Bluetooth range, it turns off at the next connection, which can take up to 4 hours.
  • Either way, Energy Saving Mode also switches off automatically as soon as your dog leaves the saved zone.
